From an idea to something live

Four stages, from Product Discovery to a product live in production.

Product Discovery

The first step, and a separate one: a focused, paid discovery phase where we work out what we're building and who it's for, map the core flows, and turn it into a fixed-price proposal for the build. Its fee is credited in full against the build if you go ahead.

Design

We design the product properly: the flows, the interface, the design language. You see and sign off how it looks and works before we build it, not after.

Build

We build in stages you can see, on real infrastructure. Any AI in the product runs on the Forta Toolkit, with its safety and observability baked in from day one. You watch it come together throughout.

Launch

We ship it to production: app stores, live domains, the lot. Documentation, handover and all the code and IP come to you as part of launch, not as an afterthought.

£25,000 is the baseline for a full build. Every project is scoped individually, so the figure moves up from there with what we're building. Fixed scope, fixed price, agreed in writing before we start, with payments staged against milestones.

Every full product build starts with a Product Discovery: £2,500 + VAT, credited in full against the build. It's where we scope exactly what we're building and turn it into that fixed price, so you commit to a number, not a guess.

After launch

From £2,500/month + VAT

A product is never really finished. Keep us on to run it and keep building it, on a fixed monthly retainer. Or take it and run it entirely yourself; you own it either way, and there's no lock-in.

Hosting and AI usage are billed to your own accounts and never marked up. They sit outside the retainer because they scale with your product's usage and can vary widely.

We take on a small number of builds at a time

A build gets the studio's full attention for months at a time. That's the only way it comes out at the quality we put our name to, so we only run a few at once. When we're full, we're full.

Questions, answered

How long does a build take?

It depends on scope, but most builds run from a couple of months to around six. We break the work into stages with milestones, so you see progress the whole way through rather than waiting for one big reveal at the end. We'll give you a realistic timeline as part of scoping, before you commit.

How is it priced?

Fixed scope, fixed price, agreed in writing before we build. Full builds start from £25,000 + VAT, which is our baseline; every project is scoped individually, so the exact figure depends on what we're building and how much of it there is. Payments are staged against milestones, not taken as one lump sum up front. Every build begins with a Product Discovery (£2,500 + VAT, credited in full against the build), where we scope the work and turn it into that fixed price.

Who owns the code?

You do, all of it, from day one. On handover you get the full codebase, the design assets and the intellectual property, plus documentation. No per-seat licences, no lock-in, no hostage situation. You can keep us on to evolve it or take it to any other team.

Can we start smaller?

Yes. The Product Discovery is exactly that: a focused, paid first step (£2,500 + VAT, credited in full against the build) that scopes the product and produces a fixed-price plan. You commit to the full build with your eyes open, or walk away with the plan and no obligation. And if what you really need is AI inside a business you already run, rather than a new product, that's a separate track: an AI Opportunity Audit or a 30-day pilot.

Do you build mobile and web?

Both, and usually together. We build native iOS and Android apps and web platforms that share one backend and one design language, so the whole product feels like one thing rather than three separate projects bolted together. MerchantLink is exactly this: a mobile app, a merchant web portal and an admin platform, all on one shared backend.

What does “AI-native” mean here?

It means AI is designed into the product where it genuinely helps, not sprinkled on top to look modern. Sometimes that's a lot, like MerchantLink's catalogue-matching engine and support agents; sometimes it's very little. Whatever AI a product does use runs on the Forta Toolkit, which gives those features observability, safety, cost control and durability as standard.

What happens after launch?

Your choice. Keep us on with a Run & Evolve retainer, from £2,500/month + VAT: we host, monitor and support it, with dedicated development days each month for improvements and new features. Hosting and AI usage run on your own accounts and sit outside the retainer, since they scale with usage and can vary widely. Or we hand it over entirely, documented and yours to run, and you carry on without us. There's no lock-in either way.
